Description
The Royal Palace of Phnom Penh is a stunning complex of buildings that serves as the royal residence of the King of Cambodia. Built in 1866 by King Norodom, this magnificent palace showcases traditional Khmer architecture with its ornate golden spires and intricate designs.
The palace complex includes several remarkable structures, with the Silver Pagoda being one of the highlights. The floor of this temple is covered with over 5,000 silver tiles, and it houses numerous national treasures including gold and jeweled Buddha statues.
Visitors can explore the Throne Hall, which features a 59-meter-high tower inspired by the Bayon temple at Angkor. The palace grounds are beautifully maintained with lush gardens and traditional Cambodian landscaping.
Open daily from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Appropriate dress is required - shoulders and knees must be covered.
